Period Playlist: 10 Songs We Love To Listen To!

The scene from ‘No Strings Attached’ when Ashton Kutcher’s character creates a “Period Mix” has stuck with us for a while. We asked the team to come up with a song they listen to when they’re on their period, and the results helped us build this (pretty awesome) Period Playlist!

SHAKE IT OFF – TAYLOR SWIFT

Why we love it: It’s just one of those songs with a super catchy beat – and lyrics that get stuck in your head.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: When you’re feeling really mopey and down, this is a great pick-me-up song.

WATERFALLS – TLC

Why we love it: A throwback to the 90s, this song packs a powerful message. Don’t go chasing waterfalls.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: ‘No Strings Attached’ got it right when listing this song. If you’ve ever had a super heavy flow day, you can probably relate to the idea of “Waterfalls.”

MAN! I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN – SHANIA TWAIN

Why we love it: Powerful and fun! The best thing about being a woman – everything!

Why it’s great for your period playlist: Sometimes we just need something fun and upbeat we can dance to.

BLOOD RED SUMMER – COHEED AND CAMBRIA

Why we love it: When we’re feeling the cramps and find ourselves thinking “What did I do to deserve this??” we relate to the final lyrics in this song.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: If you’re feeling angsty or frustrated with your period, this is a good song to belt out the final lyrics to.

RED RED WINE – UB40

Why we love it: Not just because of the humor in the name, but sometimes we love a glass of red wine when we’re on our periods (and over the age of 21).

Why it’s great for your period playlist: The soothing and catchy tune is sure to pick you up!

MY SILVER LINING – FIRST AID KIT

Why we love it: There’s a silver lining to everything, and this song is great for reminding us (especially when we really need the reminder).

Why it’s great for your period playlist: The calming tune and power vocals is great for when you want to relax.

BAD BLOOD – BASTILLE

Why we love it: A great reminder that we just need to let go of the bad blood in our past and focus on the future.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: Besides the title, this song has a great beat and is perfect for headphones and tuning out everything else.

BLOODSTREAM – ED SHEERAN

Why we love it: We just love Ed Sheeran’s voice and the song is definitely catchy.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: If you love Ed Sheeran’s voice as well. Plus, the title of the song is “Bloodstream” – seems appropriate, right?

HOLD ON – WILSON PHILLIPS

Why we love it: All female band with fantastic vocals and inspiring message.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: The lyrics “I know that there is pain, but hold on for just one more day… things will go your way” is perfect encouragement for when you’re feeling miserable.

TRY – COLBIE CAILLAT

Why we love it: We love this inspiring and heartwarming song about body positivity and being true to yourself.

Why it’s great for your period playlist: For when we need an uplifting happy song on our playlist. Plus, the video is beautiful. Check it out below.
